A practical guide from your first theme upload to a website that feels like your own.
Install your theme
- Download your chosen theme ZIP from its product page or from My account → Downloads.
- In your WordPress dashboard, open Appearance → Themes → Add New → Upload Theme. Select the theme ZIP itself, install it, and activate it.
- For an existing website, back up your database and files first and preview the update on a staging site. Keep your custom code in a child theme.
- Open Appearance → Customize to set your logo, menus, colors, and reading preferences.
Recreate a live demo
The demo gallery contains separate free and Pro sites for all nine theme families. Each demo uses the original theme templates with illustrative content. Themes install without automatically importing articles or contacting a demo service.
| Theme family | Homepage setup |
|---|---|
| Blogging Icon, Crypto Icon, Icon Arena, Clickright, Pixeldom, UnoBlog | Use Settings → Reading → Your latest posts. Add featured images to your posts and assign the primary navigation menu. Configure any header image, sidebar, or advertisement area in the Customizer and Widgets. |
| Construction Icon and Health Icon | Create a Home page using the original Home Page template and select it as your static homepage. Configure the slider and service sections in the theme options; the free edition also supports editable page blocks in the service area. |
| Portfolio Icon | Configure the header image, introductory text, and portfolio or blog content in the Customizer. The Pro demo also uses the original About Me section. |
Optional demo-content import
If you have the separate ThemeIcon demo-content archive, open the folder matching your theme slug. Use Tools → Import → WordPress to import its content.xml file, assign the sample articles to your own account, and select Download and import file attachments. settings.json records the reference layout; page, image, menu, and widget IDs will differ on your website, so select the matching imported items in WordPress. Do not import this file directly into the database.
The sample sites use fictional businesses and articles. Replace their content and contact information before launching. Image credits and source links are included in the media descriptions. The theme ZIP and demo-content archive are separate files.
Design controls and patterns
The upgraded editions include block editor styling, starter patterns, a canvas page template, and typography and color controls. The canvas is an optional layout; choose the original templates to reproduce the theme’s native demo. Pro adds optional header calls to action, announcement text, sticky headers, and article reading tools. These enhancements can be enabled in the Customizer without replacing the original design.
